Learn to create your own spirit dolls in a 10 week online course with dollmaker, Julia Inglis. Discover ways to connect to creativity, intuition and ancestors through the folk tradition of the spirit doll & needle felting.
Over the years I have taught thousands of people to create their own spirit dolls.
The spirit doll is an ancient being, familiar and beloved to many cultures around the world.
By engaging in ancestral crafts such as the folk tradition of a spirit doll, we weave a bridge back to the makers in our lineage who I believe send assistance to us and to the doll itself.
I am passionate about embracing and honouring these folk traditions and handcrafts of our lineages that have been forgotten and misunderstood.

Our Hands Remember
The familiar, spirit doll, medicine doll, healing doll - there are many names for the magical doll companion. With each doll we are making and healing the child within as well as connecting back to our wise ancestors.
The ancient practice of making slowly by hand helps us to access wisdom, intuition and the ancestral memory of wool, textiles, herblore, & talismans. The Sacred Familiar is the magical twin. On this journey together we will make a healing pilgrimage to meet the mythical dollmaker that lives in the ancestral memory and bring healing to the witch memory.
We are not just coming to learn how to needlefelt a doll, we will be creating a spirit doll to be a vessel and bridge for you to your ancestors.

Course Lessons
There are 9 Lessons that follow the theme of pilgrimage. These lessons contain practical pre-recorded videos, tarot readings and writing exploring each archetype.

Create at your own pace and rhythm
Along with practical dollmaking videos I will share teachings, readings and journeys that will help to assist you on an etheric pilgrimage to rediscover your personal magic, creativity and intuitive process.

Materials and Supplies
You will need to gather your supplies before we begin and once you enrol you will receive a welcome email with the list of materials needed. Needle felting supplies should cost around $100 depending on how many dolls you wish to create.

My Journey
Within days of learning how to make my first spirit doll, I was creating non-stop. I was obsessed. It was as if my hands remembered this craft so well.
I began to:
Feel my spirit helpers guiding me and teaching me more about fleece & fibre, how to include plants that assisted with healing and where to find them in the forest.
Receive dreams and strange synchronicities.
Teach myself how to create even more fantastic beings, I am largely self-taught - I believe my spirit helpers and ancestors were nudging me along.

Creating by Hand
You cannot help but go inward with hand made work, there are long long hours and much repetitive movement. Like our grandmothers many moons ago caught up in the repetition of a needle going into thread, or a spinning wheel forever turning, we begin to enter a kind of dreaming-awake state and hear the wise and quiet voice of intuition.

Creativity is very individual and I want you to go at your own pace. There are instructions to make several dolls in this course, but if you only want to make doll incorporating parts of the 9 lessons that’s absolutely fine. Take your time but devote a couple of hours to practice daily.

Yes you do. I’ve taught 1,000s of people to make dolls. Remember it’s your doll and journey and there is no-one to judge your abilities. It’s more about feeling and intention than being perfect.

Not at all, I will share simple techniques that will have you needlefelting with confidence on your first day.
