Oceans of love for all that is unfolding, Julia & Tony

Fortune by Charles Allen Winter

Lover's Eye

Eye Miniatures or Lover's Eye were Georgian portraits of the eye of your beloved so that it could be carried with you. A doorway to your lover's heart that was known so intimately by you but would be hard for anyone else to recognise - a secret link or love-token.  In 1785, the miniatures became well-known through a scandalous affair between the Prince of Wales, later King George IV of England, and a widowed commoner named Maria Fitzherbert. The two wed in secret and commissioned portraits of their as discreet tokens of affection.

What Soul is All About

“I’m a victim of my own insides. There was a time when I wanted to know everything. I read a lot. I guess you’d say I was pretty intellectual. It’s odd, I can’t remember when it changed. It used to make me very unhappy, all that feeling. I just didn’t know what to do with it. But now I’ve learned how to make feeling work for me. I’m full of emotion and I want a release, and if you’re on stage and if it’s really working and you’ve got the audience with you, it’s a oneness you feel. I’m into me, plus they’re into me, and everything comes together. You’re full of it. I don’t know, I just want to feel as much as I can, it’s what ‘soul’ is all about.”   Janis Joplin

YES. Your words have power

Yoko Ono and John Lennon by David Bailey, 1971

Q: How did you meet Yoko?

John Lennon: There was a sort of underground clique in London; John Dunbar, who was married to Marianne Faithfull, had an art gallery in London called Indica, and I'd been going around to galleries a bit on me off days in between records, also to a few exhibitions in different galleries that showed sort of unknown artists or underground artists. I got the word that this amazing woman was putting on a show the next week, something about people in bags, in black bags, and it was going to be a bit of a happening and all that. So I went to a preview the night before it opened. I went in - she didn't know who I was or anything - and I was wandering around. There were a couple of artsy-type students who had been helping, lying around there in the gallery, and I was looking at it and was astounded. There was an apple on sale there for two hundred quid; I thought it was fantastic - I got the humor in her work immediately. I didn't have to have much knowledge about avant-garde or underground art, the humor got me straightaway. It was two hundred quid to watch the fresh apple decompose. But it was another piece that really decided me for or against the artist: a ladder that led to a painting, which was hung on the ceiling. It looked like a white canvas with a chain with a spyglass hanging on the end of it. I climbed the ladder, looked through the spyglass, and in tiny little letters it said, YES. So it was positive. I felt relieved. It's a great relief when you get up the ladder and you look through the spyglass and it doesn't say NO or FUCK YOU or something. I was very impressed.

More on the Selkie

The Selkie by Tammy Mae Moon
Here is a link provided by Tammy about the story of the Selkie: www.orkneyjar.com/folklore/selkiefolk

I have noticed that Seal has come into our knowing again recently. I have heard people speaking of the Seal, sharing photos and recently my dear friend Tammy Mae Moon painted this beautiful creation: The Selkie. What is the Seal asking you to remember? For me the Seal is a messenger from my ancestors in Scotland, a reminder to always go deeper - to not forget that we are creatures of the land but must always return to the sea...live the DEEPER life.

I am the Bride and the Groom

Monumental bust of the goddess Isis-Sothis-Demeter
From Tivoli, Hadrian's Villa, Palestra 131-138 AD

“Because I am the first and the last
I am the venerated and the despised one
I am the prostitute and the saint.
I am the bride and the virgin.
I am the mother and the daughter,
I am my mother’s arms,
I am the sterile one, yet my children are numerous,
I am the married woman and the unmarried one,
I am She who gives birth and She who has never given birth,
I am the consolation for the pains of childbirth.
I am the bride and the groom,
And it was my man who nurtured my fertility,
I am my father’s Mother,
I am my husband’s sister.
And he is my rejected son.
Respect me always,
As I am the Scandalous and the Magnificent one.”
Found in Nag Hammadi, Egypt, 1947. Dated III-IV BC. Allegedly an hymn to goddess Isis

Swan Journeys in Sydney

Hello to all of our Sydney friends. We are heading your way again with The Swan Blessing and will be in Glebe offering personal sessions 1-3rd February 2013. We are already taking bookings so please let us know if you'd like to book one of these sessions for yourself. See you all soon!

Here is a beautiful Swan Blessing story from Jane who was the first person to journey with the Swan on our last Sydney trip. Just beautiful Jane - thank you again for sharing.

I saw her, old, long scraggly hair, wrapped in tanned animal hide for protection, by the river, in the forest, alone, very alone, sad, resigned, quiet. She'd been banished from the village, or maybe she'd run away and been hiding, either way it was because she'd been found out or would have been and that meant she'd had to leave or die.

I saw her, young, she was writing furiously, long feather quill, hiding somewhere in a corner of the attic of the dwelling, in the dark, a lone taper burning. She was scared, fearful of being seen, yet she wrote and she wrote, pausing only to hear more to write. The words were coming to her from others, words she couldn't see who spoke, yet the words came and she wrote them. The Grandmother who lived in her hut in the forest had told her that the voices and their words that she heard were important and that she must write them down and give them to her. She taught her to write and read and told her to keep it a secret, not to tell anyone and to keep on doing it.On the Grandmother's death bed, she made her promise, make a vow, to never let anyone else know about the words she heard and to not let anyone see her writing, otherwise she would be killed. She wrote and wrote and the words soothed her soul. She shared them with her mother and her sisters because the words spoke of a different way, a way where they would be honoured and respected, it was so different to how it was for them.... The vow she made to the Grandmother kept her scared, scared of being seen, scared of being found out and scared of what would happen should she be discovered and the vow kept the words secret, but the words wanted to be shared and read.....

The vow she made stayed with her until another lifetime when she went to the Blacksmith's cottage and met a Witch who flew with Swan. The Witch helped her find a way to cut away the web that was the vow, that had stuck to her, that was stuck in and around and all over her. And Black Panther came then, to be with her, to protect her and guard her. She was safe now, the vow was released and the words could come freely and be shared.

Catachism for a Witch's Child

When they ask to see your gods
your book of prayers
show them lines
drawn delicately with veins
on the underside of a bird's wing
tell them you believe
in giant sycamores mottled
and stark against a winter sky
and in nights so frozen
stars crack open spilling
streams of molten ice to earth
and tell them how you drink
a holy wind of honeysuckle
on a warm spring day
and of the softness
of your mother who never taught you
death was life's reward
but who believed in the earth
and the sun
and a million, million light years
of being.

The Lunar Illumination of Black Moon Lilith

Dark Beauty Magazine
Very early on thursday morning (1.56am) we will experience a Lunar Eclipse in Gemini and she is conjunct with Black Moon Lilith. Black Moon Lilith - our Dark Sister is often where we carry our wounds and fears around the Divine Feminine. Our Shadow is calling to be healed, embraced and understood. Yes this is a week of challenge and tests - do you dare look into the cave of your own heart? What fears keep you from looking, from healing - we are so afraid that we don't dare step too close, we turn our face away. But to meet our fears with love and courage creates such a transformation that the light we carry with us into the cave allows us to see that our deepest fears are often our greatest teachers, often our brightest jewels.
Serpentarium by Patricia Ariel
At the Solar Eclipse last week I created 9th Wave Water Rites Self-Blessing Essence to bless our own spirits again - we do not need to be blessed or healed or cleansed by anyone else - we are our own authority. These Rites are to be performed by yourself morning and night for 9 days and 9 nights. The essence carries the medicine of both Frog (cleansing, purifying, speaking in your true voice) and Black Swan (embracing unique beauty, healing the wound of the Divine Feminine) and plant essence of the Blackthorn Flower (healing memory of shame and guilt). The Rites are so beautiful, light and freeing, they carry the wisdom of my Celtic Ancestors and the blessings of the Sidhe.
In our blessings Tony and I merely hold sacred space and stand beside you as you peer into that cave, as you come to meet your own Shadow - the Dark Sister or Brother. The blessing comes from your own spirit as it journeys with the WIld Swan. We have just created Eclipse Balance sessions for Friday and Saturday to work in this potent energy of Lunar Illumination.
